Even if you and your husband do not have children, praying for his heart to be prepared is still a good thing! Even praying that he would be a godly example towards children that are in your life-extended family, church, etc. is good.
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4
Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. Colossians 3:21
1-Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2- And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 2 Timothy 2:1-2
And one thing I had to learn as a mother is… just because he does things DIFFERENTLY does not make them WRONG 🙂 Being a good father is not about how they dress or bathe them, but that they love and discipline them in godliness.

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
Everything we do should bring glory to God. We should pray this for our husbands.
11-For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. 12- Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 -And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13
While this verse was specifically for the children of Israel, the principles can still apply to us. God’s thoughts towards us are not evil, though He will allow things we do not understand to come into our lives to stretch and strengthen us. And when we seek Him, He will be found.
Let us pray for our husbands to live out the purpose for which God created them!

1-beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 21 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1,2
19-What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20- For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20
Realizing our bodies are not our own can have a tremendous impact on the decisions we make!
26-I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27-But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. 1 Corinthians 9:26,27
Let us pray for our husbands to realize his body is the dwelling of the Holy Spirit, thus effecting his decisions about food and activities.

Oh, this one may be one of the most difficult. It is very anti-cultural to speak of a man being a servant AND the one in charge…. not to mention they sound like completely opposite positions!
But not if we are following the example of Christ!
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Galatians 5:13
28-So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself… 32-This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33-Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; Ephesians 5: 28, 32,33 [portions]
Christians are to be pictures of Christ in our service of others; and specifically, husbands are a picture of Christ in the home!
3-Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4- Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Philippians 2:3-4
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. 1 Timothy 5:8
Let us pray for our husbands to make wise decisions as the head of our home and to serve his family as the Christ-symbol.

10-Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11- Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Romans 12:10,11
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. 1 Timothy 5:8
I do not know of many men who do not want to take care of their families [but I do know of some]. We need to pray for this heart in our man. We should pray for specific character qualities to be cultivated: of persistence, decisiveness, integrity and strength of morality, among others.
And as the helpmeet, it can help when we take the time to notice and praise those sincere efforts that often speak his love to us!
Let us pray for our husband to be a hard worker, providing for his family and growing in godly character!

4-Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. 5- Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. Proverbs 23:4-5
10-Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love;… 13-Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. Romans 12: 10 & 13
9-Use hospitality one to another without grudging. 10- As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:9,10
There are many other verses and passages which teach being a steward of ALL things because nothing is really “ours” but these are just a few. And money [or finances] is seen as the number one reason for discord in a marriage, so looking at money as GOD’s and not our own is the first step in stewarding it faithfully for His glory!
Let us pray for our husbands to be good & faithful stewards of all things the Lord entrusts to him [and specifically money].

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29
Your “love language” doesn’t need to be Words of Affirmation to appreciate words spoken in love!
Let us pray for our husbands to speak words that reflect his heart of love for the family!

14-For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15- Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16- That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17- That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18- May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19-And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Ephesians 3:14-19
Christ is the ultimate example for all Christians to learn how to live a life of love and compassion, but He is also the best example of how to be a man. When a man follows Christ, he becomes a better version of himself in all things, including: emotion, mental, physical, social & spiritual strengths.
21-For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22- Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23- Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24-Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 25-For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. 1 Peter 2:21-25
Let us pray for our husbands to pattern all areas of life after Jesus!
