Our printer is having issues, so I did not print this… nor did I have time to write it out. But I did send it to him so he could read it.
There is always more that I think after I’ve written my love a note like this… but since it wasn’t actually the last 5 minutes we would ever be together, I have said “I love you” several times since then. And I try make an effort to let him know something I appreciate about him every day!
This is a great exercise… I may do it again!!
Do you ever write a little note to your spouse just to let them know you appreciate them? It can work wonders… in both hearts. 🙂

This beautiful song, over a century old, still proclaims such truth! The melody is soothing, and I enjoyed hearing our song leader sing this as the special music last night!
When God is leading… then I am following. The comfort that a child has knowing that the parent will do them no harm is the same comfort I can have when truly following God’s leading me along!
I found a beautifully sung version on youtube to share…
God Leads Us Along
1 In shady, green pastures, so rich and so sweet. God leads His dear children along; Where the water’s cool flow bathes the weary one’s feet, God leads His dear children along. 2Sometimes on the mount where the sun shines so bright, God leads His dear children along; Sometimes in the valley, in darkest of night, God leads His dear children along. 3Tho’ sorrows befall us, and Satan oppose, God leads His dear children along; Through grace we can conquer, defeat all our foes, God leads His dear children along. 4 Away from the mire, and away from the clay, God leads His dear children along; Away up in glory, eternity’s day, God leads His dear children along.Chorus Some thro’ the water, some thro’ the flood, Some thro’ the fire, but all thro’ the blood; Some thro’ great sorrow, but God gives a song, In the night season and all the day long.
…but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord… Ephesians 5:18 & 19
Two weeks ago, while singing along with the congregational music in church, the Lord hit me with an idea.
{Don’t worry, it did not hurt. :)}
I usually try to pay attention to the words we are singing, even when it is the most familiar of hymns. I have never really stopped to think of just how many songs my brain has filed away from singing them for so many years, but it’s a LOT!
If you have been faithful to church for several years, you probably have quite the collection too.
But do you SPEAK TO YOURSELF with these words? hymns and spiritual songs….
Do you know any verses of Psalms that bring comfort or encouragement to your soul?
Do you recite them to yourself in times of stress or discouragement?
I have come to realize that more than venting to a friend {which I do on occasion}, finding a song to sing can change my attitudewhen changing my situation is not an option-even more than “bringing it to the Lord in prayer.”
Now, do not get me wrong. Praying about our problems or difficult situations SHOULD ALWAYS be our first response… but sometimes, instead of just venting to the Lord [to prevent venting to people], maybe we should ask Him to bring a song to mind that we can sing and meditate on the truths.
So, the idea the Lord gave me?
Consciously allow Him to really speak to me through a song in the services each Sunday… morning or evening, congregational or special music… and let you know!
Like I said, He gave me this idea 2 weeks ago! So, I have some catching up to do.
I shared a status from my husband: Amazing lesson from my oldest daughter yesterday. She quoted I Cor 13:1 and said that God spoke to her through that verse. She says it means that if we do not show love to others all they see and hear are our words, and that gets annoying after a while, they have to see us love them. I felt like just having an invitation right then and there. Thanking the Lord for a daughter that is tender toward God.
God teaches me SO much through my children!!!

Last Friday was homecoming at the school where my children attend. My oldest daughter was selected to represent her class-3rd grade here are a few photos from the evening. ENJOY!
Her updo idea came from this blog {princesshairstyles: belle hairstyle}. They have lots of cute ideas. I took this one and made it work for her hair… and added GLITTER! 🙂
I have written on this topic before, but it has been re-challenged to me recently -by my own life.
We all want our children to accept Jesus for their salvation! But before they can know about salvation we must teach them about God.
All men are born with the knowledge of God written in their heart [Proverbs 14:1, Romans 2:14-16].
But this does not mean our children will automatically know God.
Man is born a sinner. Even as a babe, we are all sinners.
If you have children, you cannot dispute this fact. A child left to himself brings shame on his mother [Proverbs 29:15].
Since the same heart that knows there is a God also contains sin, the knowledge of God must be cultivated to become knowing God.
People do not know who He is without being taught. Yes, if a lost man seeks for God, God will not hide himself [Jeremiah 29:13]. But that does not preclude our responsibility as parents.
I pray everyone rang in the new year safely and surrounded by loved ones!
{The actual ringing in found me sound asleep, but safe, and in my home with loved ones!}
.
The New Year here marks the official dropping of my old blog and writing exclusively for this new address.
{{wooo-hoooo!!}
I must admit, I still wish I had the time and mental acuity to type a post every day. I truly admire those who do it. But, that will not be happening any time soon!
.
As the old year came to a close, I began pondering just what DID I want to accomplish this next year {now THIS year!}.
And I came to the conclusion that I was not going to make any “year resolutions.”
I have read much in the past 2-3 days of why to or why not to make “New Year’s Resolutions.”
But my own adventure towards what I desire from this year came when I realized… that truly,
every day is a fresh beginning.
Of course, a new year is a BIG new beginning; but if I confine myself to only beginning anew at the beginning of the year, I will continue to fail-by today–the second day of the new year!
Because I’m human. I have many excuses in my repertoire… and I am a firm believer in: life is what happens after you make plans!
So, my “New Year’s Resolution” is to not have a YEAR’s resolution!
But totreat each day as a new beginning.
To approach the morning as a time of goal setting.
To approach the evening as a time of pondering.
Tolive intentionallyandon purpose.
Instead of only making lists of what I want to accomplish [in vague general terms] on December 31 that would supposedly encompass an entire year, I will make lists multiple times a week-or however often I can remember!
And then accomplish tasks.
And complete goals.
And grow as a Christian-
in being a wife, mom, friend, sister and daughter.
A quote that struck me a couple of month ago {and I do not know the true origin as I found it on Pinterest} was:
